Plugin Snobbery 2020 by Contrite

Hey yo....Hope you are all keeping cool.... 😃

This post is all about.....plugins...

Sweet, shiny, Plugins...

I'm going to run down my 10 most used VST's ....in no particular order, 😍

#1. Kush Omega

>> These are plugins which i bought and at first i thought ...."why did i buy that..."?
After trying many different Console emulation's. (Plugins that try and make your track sound like its being run through a very expensive Studio desk) I realised by accident that these 2 do a very good job. One of them is modelled on a NEVE and the other is modelled on an API Console.

#2  Softube Dramer 1973

This was a bucket list plugin that was always really expensive. Thank the Lord for sales. It doesn't disappoint. It's a 3 band multiband FET compressor.

#3 Ableton Multiband Dynamics

I have a Default setting on this...you literally drop it on a Drum loop/Break and it takes all the nasty air, dirt and reverby sounds out of the drums. I use this on ALL my Drum sounds 😍

#4 Tal Sampler

>> I go through phases of hammering this plugin. Its really nice looking GUI and emulates the sound of an AKAI and EMU hardware sampler...It does something magic to Drums, Basses, Pads..Making them sit in the mix better. Its really cheap aswell.

#5 Minimal Audio Fuse.

>> This is OTT on steroids. Good for flattening out the sound for more Balance and Fatness.

#6 Klanghelm VUMT

This is a proper utility plugin which does lots and lots of things. I can solo mids and sides, Convert bass below a certain level to mono. Also good for gainstaging. Seriously recommend. a tip i use is to solo the sides of a mix. Mix these to sound really high quality and lush. Then switch it back to both mono, and side...

#7 Waves Element 2

This is one good souding synthesizer. It doesn't look much and it doesn't come with any fancy tricks like "Wavetables". It's a standard subtractive 2 oscillator synth....With a VERY huge sound...
Great for subby D&B Bass. Get it when its on offer 😎 Talking of wavetables....you know the score....

#8 Xfer Serum

I didn't buy this but i rented it off Splice.com for £7 a month which is a real bargain..I don't think i need to introduce it as its so famous. It is just really good for creating Unique, modulating sounds...Plus it has a seperate plugin which can be used just for the FX...Totally amazing..

#9 Izotope Trash..

We all know practically every sound needs saturating to make it louder in the mix. This is one of the best plugins in my opinion for doing this. It goes in deep but i just use the Distortion Section "Tape setting. If im not saturating with this, then i use Unfiltered Audio Dent 2 and Indent 2 which are crazy plugins. I just managed to get hold of Camelphat 2 "again" after loose'ing it when they betrayed me to apple.

#10 Nora

This comes free with Computer music magazine and is amazing for getting pre generated midi riffs. Really good for when inspiration fails. I went through a phase of making tons of deep house with this..There are some cool plugins on the CM DVD, I like the Acoustica "Pink EQ" Which, when using the Gain control, transforms the sound as tho its going through a lush desk...

>> Music plugin technology is a really amazing thing. I can't really affored some of the more exensive plugins. I also wait for the sales. There are some great groups on Facebook that are dedicated to these offers. The most "underground" ..."amazing "Group" on Fb in my opionion is the "Wavshare" group. If you know........you know...
